So, Here's What Happened..

Yesterday, I was at Wheeler Farm with my sweet husband taking some pictures for a Christmas present to my mother-in-law. While I was taking these pictures with my Nikon D50 and new lens that my darling husband got me for our anniversary, he exclaimed: "I can't do this anymore! I can't allow this to go on! I have to give you your Christmas present early.. I got you the Nikon D5200 and it's sitting at home. If you're going to be taking pictures, you have to do it right!"
Let me go back..
In February 2012, I had back surgery. Not a huge deal, but it put me out of commission for some time as I have some residual issues with my sciatic nerve in my left leg and in my back. The last shoot I did was for a friend's baby shower and it just about killed me. So I haven't been doing much lately in the ways of hobbies and photography since it requires standing and walking. Not to mention, my time has been limited with full time work and school.
I think this gift was the boost I needed to get back into this, combined with a shoot that I assisted with while out with my in-laws last week. And as we left Wheeler Farm in a hurry to get my new camera from the house, a gentleman in the parking lot saw me carrying my camera and asked if I do family portraits. He proceeded to ask for my information and said he'd keep in touch for a shoot with his two girls.
Darren told me it's a sign to really get involved with my passion again. He said when we were out with his family that he saw me so happy and knew that it was something that needed to be encouraged and that's how he made the decision to get me the camera for Christmas.
So, Ladies and Gentlemen, here is a taste of my first pictures taken with my incredible new camera! I'm just elated, and I can't wait to get back into it and see what this puppy can really do!

Jason's Family Pictures!

My awesome brother asked that I do his family pictures last month, and they turned out mighty cute! We did these over by the Jordan River Parkway and I am very happy with them!

Halloween!

I'm beginning to think that I have a new passion.. Special effects makeup! For Halloween this year, I decided to be a zombie. In doing this, I had to be creative with my makeup because I didn't want to go out and buy a whole bunch of expensive stuff to make myself look ugly.. That doesn't seem quite right, does it..? Anyway, with the use of some Elmer's Glue and toilet paper, I was able to come up with something awesome enough to take some pictures of. I didn't take these with my nice camera, but the effects that came out of it are pretty cool! I'm very proud of myself and I love how it turned out. What do you think?

A new beginning... To blogging.

This post is a new start to my blogging life! I'm dedicating this to my passion for photography and to give others the opportunity to look at my work if they so please.

I'll try and keep this updated as much as possible, but I'm going to start this new blog out with some recent photos that I've taken of a wonderful girl named Kim. We did some bridals for her at Murray Park and they turned out gorgeous! I was very pleased with the look of these shots, and I hope that she loves them as well!

I'm going to sum up this blog with a few shots from various jobs that I've worked just to give a better idea of the different things I've done.
